Our App can be used anonymously without creating an account. However, if you choose to register or log in to our App either directly or using third-party authentication providers (e.g., Google, Apple, etc.), we may collect certain personal information, including but not limited to:

1.2 Anonymous Usage Data

Whether or not you create an account, we automatically collect certain basic information about your device and app usage for the purpose of improving app functionality and user experience. This information includes:

Device Information:
- Basic device type and operating system version
- Device identifiers including Firebase Installation ID and Device ID where necessary for app functionality
- Screen resolution and display settings
Analytics Data: Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports to help us improve app stability and performance.
App Interactions: Anonymous data about features used and app performance.

1.3 User-Uploaded Images and Face Data

FACE DATA DISCLOSURE

Hug Your Younger Self lets you upload a recent photo and a childhood photo so the App can generate the image experience you request. These uploaded photos may contain your face, likeness, or other personal visual features. We process this image data only to provide the user-requested AI image generation features of the App.

What we collect: The uploaded recent photo, uploaded childhood photo, selected style or aspect-ratio options, and any related generation instructions you submit as part of a request.
What we do not collect: We do not use Apple's Face ID, and we do not create or store facial recognition profiles, face geometry maps, biometric templates, or identity-matching records from your uploaded photos.
How we use it: Your uploaded images are used only to generate the requested AI image result and to return that result to you inside the App. We do not use uploaded face-containing photos for advertising, profiling, or unrelated analytics purposes.
Where it is sent: To complete a generation request, the uploaded images and generation inputs may be transmitted to Replicate, our third-party AI processing provider, solely so the requested image can be generated.
How we store it: Uploaded input photos may be stored temporarily in Firebase Storage during processing. Generated output images and related history data may be stored in Firebase-backed account history so you can access, save, share, or delete them later.
Consent: We process and transmit this image data only when you choose to use the feature and submit the content for generation.

1.4 User History

We store user image history to provide a more personalized user experience, enhancing the functionality and relevance of the AI-generated images. For anonymous users, this data is stored locally on your device. For account holders, this data may be synchronized across devices.

1.5 Generated Content and Image Rights

When you use our App to generate AI images:

Content Ownership: Subject to applicable law and our terms of service, you retain ownership or other rights you have in the images you submit and the images generated for you.
Generated Images:
- Are stored securely in Firebase for service delivery and account access
- May be cached for performance optimization
- May remain available in your account history until you delete them, clear history, or delete your account
Usage Rights: While you retain your rights in the content, you grant us a limited license to:
- Store and process the images for service delivery
- Analyze usage patterns for service improvement
- Use anonymized data for service improvement, if permitted by law and your settings

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect in the following ways:

• To Provide and Maintain Our Service: Ensuring the App functions as intended and providing necessary customer support.

• To Improve Your Experience: Analyzing user behavior to understand user preferences and enhance the App's usability and performance.

• To Communicate with You: Sending you administrative information, updates, security alerts, and responses to your inquiries.

• To Process Transactions: Facilitating in-app purchases and subscriptions through applicable platform billing services, including Apple StoreKit, RevenueCat, and Google Play Billing where applicable.

• To Enforce Our Policies and Terms: Ensuring that our App is used according to our terms of service and policies.

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure

NAMED PROVIDERS

We do not sell or trade your personal information to third parties. However, we may share your information in the limited situations described below to operate the App, complete your requests, support purchases, and comply with legal obligations.

Replicate. Replicate is our third-party AI image processing provider. When you submit a generation request, uploaded photos and related generation inputs may be transmitted to Replicate solely to generate the requested output image.
Firebase Authentication. Firebase Authentication helps manage sign-in methods, including guest or account-based access, and related authentication sessions.
Firebase Firestore. Firestore may store account-related records, token balances, welcome-state data, and generation metadata needed for app functionality and account continuity.
Firebase Storage. Firebase Storage may temporarily hold uploaded input photos during processing and may store generated output images associated with your account history so you can access them again.
RevenueCat and Apple StoreKit. RevenueCat and Apple StoreKit are used to present token packs, process purchases, validate entitlements, and support purchase restoration on iOS. Equivalent platform billing services may be used on other supported platforms.
Legal reasons. We may disclose information when disclosure is required by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
Business transfers. We may also disclose information in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, where personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

4. Security of Your Information

We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. While we take reasonable steps to secure your information, no security measure is completely foolproof, and we cannot guarantee the security of your information.

4a. Data Retention

We retain different types of information for specific periods:

Uploaded Photos and AI Inputs:

Retained only as long as needed to process your request and support your account features

Temporary processing copies in app-managed storage are deleted after generation is completed, subject to reasonable operational, security, or provider-side retention requirements

Account Information:

Active accounts: Retained while your account remains active

Inactive accounts: Deleted after 24 months of inactivity

Upon request: Deleted within 45 days of your deletion request

Art Creation History:

Generated images and related history may remain available while your account is active so you can revisit them in the App

Deleted upon account deletion, history deletion, clear-history actions, or specific deletion request where applicable

Usage Analytics:

Retained in anonymised form for up to 26 months

Raw analytics data deleted after 14 months

Communication Records:

Support emails and communication: Retained for 24 months

Transaction records: Retained as required by law (typically 7 years)

4b. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
